Nothing serious’ – Norway boss gives update on Odegaard injury
Norway boss Stale Solbakken has eased fears over Martin Odegaard‘s fitness after saying the Arsenal captain’s injury is “nothing serious”.
Odegaard has missed the Gunners’ last two games against Chelsea and Brighton after picking up a knee injury against Brentford last month.
He missed his side’s matches against Wigan in the FA Cup and against Wolves before returning to play 13 minutes in the north London derby win.
But despite missing Arsenal’s last two games, Solbakken indicated the 27-year-old, who is set to feature at this summer’s World Cup with Norway, could return before the end of the month.
“There is nothing serious about Martin,” the Norway boss told Viaplay.
“The most important thing is that he recovers completely and is good for us in the summer.
“For those of us who care about the World Cup, it’s not a disaster that he’s getting some breaks now.
“He’s going to rebuild and be crucial for Arsenal in April-May and maybe late March.”
‘Arsenal must sell first-team star this summer’
Arsenal will reportedly have to sell at least one first-team player in the summer, according to The Telegraph.
The report suggests discussions are under way at the club over who would provide the most lucrative sale and whether more than one player will have to leave the Emirates Stadium.
Academy graduates Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, who are both currently out of favour, are thought to be candidates to go.
Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli are also thought to be candidates for potential sales as the league leaders get to grips with their £268m transfer spend in the last completed financial year.
